In 2023, Uisce Éireann (Irish Water) procured the Project Management Office (PMO) five-year supplier framework
This aims to support project management on a range of capital projects across the water and wastewater network in Ireland. Our client won lots 1, 2 and 3 of the framework.
The opportunity
The PMO framework forms part of Uisce Éireann’s capital improvements plan. Our client decided to bid for three lots of the PMO framework, which included detailed design services, site supervision and technical project management. As the government is committed to decarbonisation, this contract will involve managing water projects to enable future growth, while also achieving carbon neutrality across the country’s water infrastructure. This is crucial for ensuring sustainable water resources for present and future generations.
EiB approach and involvement
We took the lead in storyboard sessions and multiple stage gate reviews. We constructively challenged the client on the details of its solution and strategy, by offering suggestions for how it could continually improve and refine the quality submission to meet Uisce Éireann’s needs.
We worked seamlessly with the client bid team, adapting to its processes and organisational culture to optimise collaboration. Building strong relationships with the client and offering strategic support and advice resulted in producing three high-quality bids, which responded to Uisce Éireann’s aims and objectives, while remaining cognisant of the wider impact on Ireland’s services.
Success and outcomes
Following appointment of our client as a strategic partner to deliver PMO services, it will deliver a range of capital works projects up until 2028. These services will help support delivery of the capital investment plan, achieving carbon neutrality in their wastewater and water management infrastructure and building capacity for future growth.
